Test Setup

We spent much of 2017 gathering test data for the plethora of CPU launches, but due to the recent security vulnerabilities with both AMD and Intel CPUs and their subsequent impact on performance, we've decided to draw a line under those older results and start afresh. We've not only applied the latest Windows and BIOS security patches to secure our systems against the likes of the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities as much as is currently possible, but we've also installed the latest Windows updates and drivers on both our Intel and AMD systems.

Test System

  • PSU Corsair RM850i
  • SSD OCZ Arc 100 240GB
  • CPU cooler Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML120L RGB
